A group of enraged individuals reportedly stormed the CBEX office in Ibadan’s Oke Ado area in broad daylight, causing chaos and looting properties ranging from tables, couches, fans, air conditioners, and any valuable items they could lay their hands on.
This incident came shortly after news broke that the digital trading platform had crashed, leaving numerous investors with zero balances in their accounts. Many people who had invested large sums of money in hopes of earning returns were left devastated as their savings vanished overnight.
The frustration and anger among affected victims quickly escalated, resulting in violent reactions across different cities. In Ibadan, eyewitnesses captured videos of scores of individuals forcing their way into the CBEX office, seizing furniture and other equipment in protest against the financial loss they suffered.
Several victims took to social media to express their anger, disappointment, and sorrow over the situation. Many expressed concerns about the increasing number of unregulated online investment platforms taking advantage of Nigerians due to weak government oversight and lack of investor protection.
Reports also revealed that some of the people who looted the office were not even investors on the platform, but opportunists who took advantage of the chaos to cart away valuable properties.
A video currently circulating on social media platforms captured the moment the CBEX office in Ibadan was overrun by furious youths, some seen walking away with tables, chairs, air conditioners, and other office equipment.
