A distraught Nigerian woman has taken to social media to share the heartbreaking experience of losing her husband under mysterious circumstances and the subsequent family conflict that has added to her pain and confusion.
The woman, identified by her handle @h_okolobe on the social platform X (formerly Twitter), revealed that her husband, Mr. Believe Ubara, went missing on January 19, 2024. According to her, he was allegedly kidnapped at the entrance of their residence in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. The terrifying abduction was reportedly witnessed by the family’s security guard, who raised the alarm immediately after the incident occurred.
She narrated how her husband was forcefully taken by armed men and that she received calls from the kidnappers who demanded a ransom. In her words, “My husband (Mr. Believe Ubara) has been missing—neither seen nor heard from—since January 19, 2024. He was kidnapped by armed men one unfortunate Friday evening at the entrance to our home. The incident was witnessed by our security man, who alerted me.”
Despite managing to gather and pay a ransom sum of “₦700,000”, the abductors did not release Mr. Ubara, and communication with them ceased entirely. “Calls came in from the kidnappers, and a ransom of ₦700,000 was paid, yet they refused to release my husband 😥. I have gone to numerous places seeking solutions, with help from family. Yet, there has been no word,” she lamented.
While her search for answers continues, the situation at home has taken a disturbing turn. She shared in a recent update that her mother-in-law—who had initially moved into their house with only her clothing and essentials—has now allegedly taken possession of the property that was fully built and furnished by the missing man.
She wrote, “It is so hard to believe that a grandmother would force her only grandchildren and daughter-in-law out of their home—all because of greed. A house that was fully built and furnished by my husband. She and her other children came into our home with nothing but their clothes. Now, they’re claiming ownership.”
According to the grieving woman, her mother-in-law has refused to appear before the traditional court in her husband’s hometown, where she was summoned multiple times to explain her takeover of the property. “My mother-in-law has been summoned several times to the king’s palace court in my husband’s hometown, Ozoro, Isoko North LGA, Delta State, to explain why she is taking over all of my husband’s property. She has bluntly refused to comply,” she added.
Now battling both the trauma of her husband’s disappearance and the unjust seizure of their home, she is calling for justice and appealing to the public and authorities for help in resolving the matter and finding her missing spouse.
