In a dramatic turn of events, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Iran and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire deal that is expected to formally end their 12-day-long conflict within the next 24 hours. This development comes after days of heightened tensions that sparked fears of a full-blown regional war involving multiple nations in the Middle East.
According to Trump, the agreement between both countries outlines a phased ceasefire process that will commence within six hours. Under the terms of the deal, Iran will initiate a unilateral ceasefire, halting its military actions for 12 hours. Israel will follow suit 12 hours later, with the goal of achieving a complete cessation of hostilities within a 24-hour timeframe.
“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in-progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered ENDED!” Trump announced in a statement late Monday.
The announcement has been welcomed as a “significant diplomatic breakthrough”, with Trump praising the leadership of both nations for choosing dialogue over devastation. He described the outcome as a “miraculous moment” that prevented a prolonged war that could have engulfed the entire region.
“This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t — and never will!” Trump said. “Thanks to the stamina, courage, and intelligence of leaders from both sides, we are witnessing history.”
As per the ceasefire terms, both sides are expected to maintain mutual respect and restraint during each other’s ceasefire windows. Trump emphasized the importance of peaceful observance during these hours to ensure a smooth transition to total peace.
The ceasefire comes just hours after Trump condemned a missile barrage launched by Iran targeting the U.S. military base in Qatar — the largest American military installation in the Middle East. According to Trump, Iran fired 14 missiles in retaliation for earlier U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, but 13 were intercepted by missile defense systems, and the one that landed caused no significant damage.
“God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and God bless the world!” Trump concluded, reinforcing his message of unity and global peace.
With the ceasefire poised to take effect within hours, international observers are cautiously optimistic that this agreement could mark the beginning of a more stable chapter in the region’s complex geopolitical landscape. More diplomatic engagements are expected in the coming weeks to ensure the long-term sustainability of this peace accord.
