A Nigerian soldier has been accused of brutally beating a phone repairer to death in Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa State, following a delay in repairing his girlfriend’s mobile phone.

According to Sahara Reporters, the soldier, who has been identified as Lance Corporal Ahmada A., allegedly attacked the young technician, Alkasum Ibrahim, on Wednesday. The incident reportedly began after the soldier’s girlfriend complained that her phone, which she had taken to Alkasum for repairs, was not ready within the expected time frame.

Witnesses revealed that the woman had initially dropped her device at Alkasum’s shop, but due to certain undisclosed issues, the repair work was delayed. Frustrated and angry, she decided to inform her boyfriend about the situation.

Without hesitation, the soldier reportedly rushed to the shop and launched a violent attack on the unsuspecting technician. The assault was so severe that Alkasum was rendered unconscious at the scene.

Despite efforts to save him, Alkasum tragically succumbed to his injuries and was later confirmed dead. The shocking incident has sparked widespread condemnation and outrage among the public, with many Nigerians calling for immediate justice for the victim and demanding strict action against the soldier involved.

The tragic case has once again brought to light concerns about the misuse of power and violence by military personnel against unarmed civilians, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and reform within the armed forces.
