The Kogi State Police Command has officially confirmed the attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti’s family house by unidentified gunmen in the late hours of yesterday.
As previously reported by Gistreel, armed assailants, reportedly equipped with firearms and cutlasses, launched an assault on the family house of embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan early on Tuesday morning.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, confirmed the attack. He explained, “The command has been fully briefed on the unfortunate and criminal incident by the Okehi LGA Divisional Police Officer. So far, no arrests have been made. Investigation into the incident is currently underway, and we are committed to getting to the bottom of it. We will ensure that those responsible for this criminal act are held accountable.”
This confirmation by the police comes shortly after Natasha’s Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, released a statement that also confirmed the attack and condemned the violence. The statement stressed that the attack is believed to be linked to the Senator’s vocal stance against political pressures, and she has received public support from many quarters in light of the incident.
