A violent clash reportedly erupted in Udo Community, Benin City, after a disturbing incident involving a police officer and a Nigerian soldier made its way online. According to reports circulating on social media, the altercation began when a police officer allegedly assaulted the soldier simply because he refused to give them money.

The news quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), with a video clip showing how the situation escalated after the soldier contacted his military colleagues.

The video, which has since gone viral, shows a group of armed soldiers storming the police post, clearly angered by the alleged attack on one of their own. They confronted the officers at the post, confiscated a rifle from the alleged assaulter, and disciplined the officers involved in the incident. One soldier, visibly angry, was heard saying: “This police, una dey beat soldiers. Una get mind oo. Na their rifle be this. Una say make e give you money, e no gree, you’re beating a soldier.”

The soldier also noted that despite identifying himself as military personnel, the police still physically assaulted him after he refused to part with any money.

The incident has since triggered a wave of outrage among Nigerians online, many of whom condemned the actions of the police and expressed concerns about the deteriorating relationship between law enforcement agencies in the country.
