A Nigerian man has been left devastated after losing his pregnant wife due to an inability to pay a ₦500,000 hospital deposit, opening up about the pain and heartbreak the incident has caused.
Recall that social media was thrown into mourning and outrage following the untimely death of Akinbobola Folajimi, who passed away as a result of complications during pregnancy after reportedly being denied medical care over financial constraints.

The Lagos State Government has since launched a full-scale investigation into the tragic event, with officials vowing to get to the root of the matter. The story has since ignited emotional reactions across various platforms, as citizens demand justice and better access to healthcare.
In an emotional interview granted to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the heartbroken husband of the late Folajimi shared his grief, describing the loss as an unbearable nightmare. He noted that his world has been turned upside down by her sudden death.
He revealed that he and his late partner were still in the early stages of their marital journey, having only done their introduction ceremony. Their wedding was scheduled to take place later in the year, a dream now shattered by the devastating incident.
“I don’t regret the decision of not using a hospital. We get plans to do our wedding this year, na only introduction we don do,” he said, defending their choice of traditional birth methods based on previous positive outcomes.
According to him, their two previous children were also delivered outside of the hospital setting without complications, which informed their decision not to rely on medical facilities this time around.
