This remarkable incident was revealed in a post shared on the popular social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, by the tracker who identified himself as @Otunbakush1. His strategic and methodical approach to tracing the kidnappers has since gone viral, drawing widespread attention and praise from netizens.

In the viral post, @Otunbakush1 provided a detailed breakdown of how he was able to uncover the kidnappers’ location and ultimately secure the victim’s release. His approach involved tracking the ransom transaction and leveraging a critical mistake made by the kidnappers.

According to his account, the victim was kidnapped around Ijanikin, a location notorious for crime incidents. As negotiations for the ransom progressed, the kidnappers made several calls using the victim’s phone, including one to a POS agent. This seemingly minor action turned out to be a fatal mistake that led to their downfall.

Acting swiftly on this lead, @Otunbakush1 tracked down the POS agent and instructed him to mislead the kidnappers by confirming that the ransom money had been successfully deposited. The objective was to lure the criminals into revealing more information about their operation.

Rather than coming physically to collect the ransom money as anticipated, the kidnappers instead provided the POS agent with another POS account where the funds were to be transferred. This unexpected move prompted @Otunbakush1 to trace the second POS agent, who happened to be a lady, and he repeated the same strategy—asking her to inform the kidnappers that the money had been received successfully.

In what turned out to be their biggest blunder, the kidnappers used their personal phone number to contact the second POS agent. This single act exposed their exact location, allowing @Otunbakush1 to pinpoint their hideout in a bushy area in Ijanikin, Lagos. This breakthrough led to the swift rescue of the kidnapped victim and the arrest of the kidnappers.

Sharing his experience on X, @Otunbakush1 narrated: “Someone got kidnapped and ransom was requested. They kept using the victim’s phone to make calls, but the kidnappers slipped up — they used the same phone to call a POS vendor. Impossible right? But not to worry, I suggested we track the POS vendor.”

“We located him and asked him to tell the kidnappers the ransom had been paid. We thought they would show up to collect the cash (₦4 million), but instead, they sent another POS account to receive the money. That location was Ijanikin.”

“Immediately, I tracked the second POS lady and told her to inform them the money had been received. Unfortunately for the kidnappers, they used their personal phone to call the POS lady. We tracked them to a bushy area in Ijanikin. Victim rescued, kidnappers arrested.”

He further revealed that the oldest among the arrested kidnappers was just 30 years old. He also issued a strong warning to Nigerians, advising them to be extra cautious about the public transport vehicles they board. The victim, he noted, had unknowingly entered a Sienna bus from Lekki heading toward Oshodi before blacking out, suggesting the use of sedatives or other incapacitating methods.

As the post continued to spread online, numerous concerned individuals flooded the comment section to express their thoughts and concerns regarding the situation. Many praised the tracker for his intelligence and quick thinking, while others warned about the increasing cases of kidnapping in Lagos and the importance of personal security measures.
