A Nigerian man has raised alarm on social media, sharing a distressing account of how his fiancée’s family has threatened to arrest him after he made the decision to call off their wedding, which was scheduled to take place in three months.
The emotional ordeal was disclosed through a post submitted anonymously via a link on a widely followed social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter).
According to the man’s statement, he discovered that his bride-to-be had been unfaithful earlier in the year. He claimed he found incriminating messages on her phone, which revealed she had slept with another man. The betrayal, he said, left him emotionally shattered and forced him to take the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming nuptials.
Despite pleas from her family members urging him to forgive and proceed with the wedding plans, he stood his ground and declined. The situation, however, escalated after the lady allegedly injured herself using a sharp object — a move that further complicated the entire situation.
Following this incident, the lady’s family reportedly began to accuse the man of being responsible for her emotional breakdown and threatened to ensure he is arrested and held accountable should anything happen to her.
In his own words, he wrote: “Morning Rita. Please share this. Caught her cheating just few months to wedding. Checked her phone and saw she fucked a guy earlier this year. I cancel wedding. Family begged and I declined.”
“She tore herself with a sharp object and now family are threatening me that if anything happen to their daughter I’m responsible. Said they reported to police already. She cheated but I’m the one they keep threatening. It’s a crazy situation for me now but I’m calm and safe.”
