A Nigerian man has raised an urgent alarm after narrowly escaping from a ‘one chance’ bus in Lagos. The man took to social media to share his frightening experience and provide details of the suspicious vehicle’s plate number, urging people to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to similar incidents.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the victim, who is also an artist, recounted his terrifying ordeal, explaining that he had just managed to flee from suspected criminals operating around the Jabi area in Berger, Lagos State. He described how he noticed something suspicious about the vehicle and its occupants, leading him to take quick action to escape.
According to his post, the car in question was a black Toyota Corolla with the plate number WAM-178-SH. He explained that the vehicle was traveling from Jabi towards Berger when he realized something was wrong and quickly got away.
He went further to provide a description of the individuals inside the suspicious car, stating: “The driver is a fair-skinned man, with another man sitting in the front seat and a woman holding a child in the back.”
Recounting the moment he became aware of the danger, he added: “You need to see how they kept calling me back into the car when I realized something was off—including the woman. That’s when I knew I had to run.”
As his post gained traction online, numerous concerned individuals took to the comment section to share their thoughts, experiences, and warnings regarding the increasing number of ‘one chance’ incidents in Lagos.
See some reactions below:
@AdeniyiAugusti3: “Ah, thank God you escaped unharmed. I really don’t understand how a woman with a child could be involved in such criminal activities.”
@__GUZMAN101: “Once you see a woman with a child and two men in a random vehicle trying to pick passengers, run for your life!”
@mr_jacamani: “Omo, thank God you are safe. These criminals keep coming up with new tricks every day.”
@King____Morgan: “Wow! Nigeria is no longer safe at all. This is scary. Thank God you managed to escape.”
@Stinny_Kizz: “Always trust your instincts! If something feels off, don’t hesitate—just leave the situation immediately.”
@Pawootz: “Thank God you got away. I was a victim of ‘one chance’ on November 30th last year. In my case, the vehicle was a silver-colored Corolla. It was terrifying.”
@SalimApalowo107: “This is why I never enter random vehicles on the road. I’d rather take a registered cab or public transport from a designated bus stop.”
@Iampredominant: “Whenever my instincts tell me something isn’t right about a vehicle, I just walk away. I also prefer using official car parks instead of randomly flagged-down taxis. Sorry for your experience, brother.”
@ninesqbalaa: “This is terrifying. Something similar happened to me in Abuja after I left a nightclub. A car stopped for me, and as soon as another man entered, they tried to snatch my phone. I barely managed to escape.”
@AltarOnFire: “I had a similar experience in Lagos around 2 p.m. one afternoon. A suspicious-looking bus suddenly stopped in front of me with just three people inside—the driver, a conductor, and one passenger. As I was about to enter, I overheard them using some street slangs in an unusual way. Immediately, I stepped back, and another man behind me also walked away quickly. That instinct probably saved us both.”
