A heartbroken British wife has shared the devastating and shocking story of how her Nigerian husband tragically passed away while secretly visiting his girlfriend in Lagos, after lying to her that he was travelling to Northern Ireland for a two-week lecture.
The story came to light through a series of emotional posts on X (formerly Twitter), where the grieving woman narrated how the man she had spent over 15 years with, and father of her three children, deceived her before his untimely death.
According to the wife, her husband had told her that he was going to Northern Ireland for a professional engagement involving lectures and training sessions, which would last for two weeks. “My husband told me he was travelling to Northern Island for a lecture which is to last for two weeks,” she recounted.
However, just a few days into the supposed trip, she received a phone call informing her that he had been involved in a terrible accident — not in Northern Ireland, but in Lagos, Nigeria. “My husband flew from UK to Nigeria just to cheat and he died there,” she said, fighting back tears in the video. “My husband and I were married for 15 good years and we had 3 kids. I’m a British woman, we met here in the UK, we fell in love and got married.”
She went on to explain that she had never once suspected her husband of cheating, noting how harmonious their home had been. “We lived in peace. My children are beautiful and well-behaved, they eat African food,” she added. She also revealed that her husband frequently traveled to Nigeria once or twice a year, and she had accompanied him on some of those visits, never suspecting he had affairs on the side.
In the latest incident, she explained how they maintained regular communication through video calls until suddenly, she could no longer reach him. “After about a week, I tried to call my husband on a particular day. I gave him a lot of missed calls, no one was answering, and this time he was supposed to be done with his lectures and back to a hotel.”
Eventually, someone answered the call and broke the devastating news: her husband had been involved in a ghastly motor accident and was battling for his life. “Somebody picked and told me my husband was in a hospital fighting for his life,” she said. “The person who picked the call did not give much details. I kept calling, nobody was answering.”
Hours later, she received another call — this time from her brother-in-law — confirming her worst fears. “I got a call from my in-law who happened to be my husband’s younger brother. He told me my husband was dead and he had been in the hospital with him since.”
When she asked where the accident happened, the truth hit her hard. “I asked if he was in Island and he was like no, your husband died in Lagos.”
At that moment, it became clear that her husband had lied and traveled to Nigeria to see another woman. “My husband told me he was going to Northern Island. Apparently, he went to see a woman in Nigeria. He involved himself in an accident and he died.”
Still in disbelief, she rushed to Nigeria to confirm everything for herself. Her narration has sparked massive online reactions from netizens, many of whom expressed sympathy, shock, and condemnation of the betrayal.
