Late JAMB student’s father demands her real UTME result

In a deeply emotional plea, Femi Opesusi, the grieving father of 19-year-old Timilehin Opesusi, has called on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to publicly release what he describes as his daughter’s “true” 2025 UTME score.

Timilehin tragically ended her life shortly after receiving her UTME result, which showed a score of 146. Her father, however, firmly believes that the score was inaccurate and does not reflect her real academic performance.

During an emotional interview with Channels Television, Mr. Opesusi alleged that there may have been foul play or technical error in the release of the result, as his daughter consistently performed better in her academics. He claimed that she was inconsolable after viewing her score and kept insisting that it was not hers, repeating to him, “Daddy, this is not my result.”

The late teen had previously scored 190 in the 2024 UTME and had high hopes of gaining admission into a university. She was staying with her elder sister in Ikorodu, Lagos, and was among over 300,000 candidates impacted by a reported technical glitch that disrupted the conduct of the examination at various centres nationwide in 2025.

Mr. Opesusi said he did all he could to reassure her that the issue could be corrected, but she remained distressed until she tragically took her own life just a few hours later.

“They have never called me, they have never granted me an interview, they have never said anything to me,” he said, expressing his frustration and heartbreak over the silence from JAMB. “I don’t want to see them. What I want is the actual result of my daughter, that’s the only thing,” he added.
