A young Nigerian lady has been left devastated after a fire outbreak completely destroyed her apartment, wiping out all her belongings. The fire was allegedly caused by a scented candle she received as a gift from her gym. The emotional story was shared on her TikTok page, along with a video showing the heartbreaking aftermath of the incident.
According to her narration, the scented candle was given to her at the gym as part of an advertising promotion. Trusting it to be safe, she took it home and decided to light it while she briefly stepped downstairs to retrieve her phone. Tragically, her sister, who remained upstairs, suddenly noticed the fire and started shouting, “Fire! Fire!” in a panic, alerting her to the unfolding disaster.
She described the incident as the most terrifying experience of her life, writing: “Yesterday was tragic 😭😭 A nightmare I will never forget in my life. I took a scented candle from the gym for ads, I lit the candle and was going to pick my phone downstairs, only for my sister to start yelling fire fire fire… I was startled, shocked, and confused.”
In her panic, she attempted to contact the fire service but was unable to get through. Desperate, she reached out to friends and acquaintances, but help didn’t arrive immediately. In a last-ditch effort, she posted a distress message on Snapchat, which eventually led to the fire service responding to her location. Despite their arrival, it was already too late to save her belongings.
“I watched my house burn into ashes and I couldn’t even do anything about it. If someone had told me a candle would cause all these problems, I would never have believed it. All I have to say is thank you, God, for my life,” she added, expressing gratitude that no lives were lost even though she lost everything she owned.
The emotional video she posted quickly went viral, sparking an outpouring of sympathy and supportive messages from netizens who flooded her comment section with words of encouragement and prayers.
