A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to call out internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo Boys, after she nearly fell victim to a scam involving $1,500. The lady shared the incident on TikTok, detailing how one of the fraudsters approached her with a fake story in an attempt to steal her money. The man claimed that his client needed her help to receive a large sum of money. After some convincing, the lady shared her bank details with him, thinking it was a legitimate request.
According to the lady, the man sent her a $500 cheque, saying that he had forgotten to ask her to send $50 to someone at a supermarket. This request immediately raised her suspicions, and she decided to investigate further. Upon reviewing the situation, she realized it was a scam designed to exploit her. Acting swiftly, she contacted her bank to report the fraudulent activity and ensure her account was secured.
She described the shock she felt upon seeing the cheque in her account, saying, “I saw the money in my account and I was shocked. Then he said he just remembered that I should help him send like $50 to someone in a supermarket.” This moment of realization likely saved her from losing a significant amount of money.
Her story quickly gained attention on social media, with many netizens reacting to her experience. Some shared their own similar encounters, while others expressed concern over the growing issue of internet fraud.
