A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to share a terrifying and emotional experience after allegedly falling victim to a dreaded “one chance” bus in Oshodi, Lagos State. She claimed she was hypnotized (jazzed), robbed of her personal belongings, and abandoned in an unknown location by the perpetrators.
The harrowing account was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the user @KhadijahMaruf, who detailed the traumatic series of events in a thread that has since drawn emotional responses and warnings from concerned Nigerians online.
According to her narration, the incident occurred during the last days of the Ramadan fast. She was returning from Oshodi and, due to fatigue and the scorching sun, quickly boarded a seemingly normal bus heading toward her destination. Unbeknownst to her, the bus was operated by criminals posing as commercial drivers and passengers.
She explained that after the initial bus she boarded broke down, she opted for another vehicle, a korope (mini-bus), which appeared empty except for one man who joined her — a man she later realized was part of the kidnapping gang. Moments after entering the bus, he made contact with her, and from that point on, her memory became blurry. She suspects she was jazzed (hypnotized) as she lost consciousness and control over her actions.
“I used to hear about people being jazzed inside buses, but I never believed it until I experienced it myself,” she wrote. “The man who entered with me used his body to touch me, and from there, I didn’t know what was happening.”
She later found herself in a small, unfamiliar room, obeying commands from strange individuals as if under a spell. They robbed her of all her possessions, including her phone, money, and AirPods. One of the men, she said, noticed something in her ear — her AirPods — and asked her to hand it over, which she did without resistance.
After stripping her of everything, one of the criminals reportedly performed incantations with something in his palm and then handed her ₦2,000, instructing her to use the money to find her way back to Oshodi. She was then dropped off on a street she couldn’t identify.
As she wandered the unfamiliar street, she slowly regained full consciousness. Confused and distressed, she asked a young boy for directions to Oshodi and was directed to the nearest bus stop. She boarded a bus heading toward Yaba, still holding tightly onto the ₦2,000 that had been given to her.
However, as she attempted to pay her fare, she discovered the money had mysteriously disappeared. “I started crying,” she wrote. “I told the conductor my money had fallen down, but everyone on the bus helped me search for it to no avail.”
In an act of kindness, one lady on the bus paid her transport fare, and another gave her ₦1,000 when they arrived at Yaba. The experience, she said, still haunts her, and she remains grateful to God and the kind strangers who came to her aid that day.
“I don’t know where exactly those people took me, but it was somewhere after Ojuelegba. I keep thanking Allah every day. If things had gone differently, I might have ended up kidnapped for ransom,” she added. “I lived it, and I came out alive. Alhamdulillah.”
She concluded her post with a prayer for the ladies who helped her, saying, “May Almighty Allah continue to bless you both.”
Her story has since gone viral, drawing emotional reactions, prayers, and warnings from fellow Nigerians urging people to remain vigilant, especially around bus stops in busy locations like Oshodi.
