A Nigerian lady has come under serious criticism online after she raised a controversial query regarding the properties and assets of the late Liverpool star, Diogo Jota.
Recall that Diogo Jota and his brother, André Jota, tragically lost their lives in a fatal car accident that occurred in Spain on July 3, 2025. The news of their sudden passing shocked football fans and the global sports community, who continue to mourn their untimely deaths.
The lady, known on Instagram as Makeup Affairs, sparked the backlash after she posted a question online asking whether Diogo Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, would be entitled to access and inherit all his properties and assets following his death.
According to her, she made the inquiry purely out of curiosity and had no intention of disrespecting the deceased or his family. However, many internet users found her question insensitive, especially given the tragic circumstances and the short time since his passing.
Her post reads: “Out of curiosity, will the wife get his properties because it’s just 11 days after wedding. So will the wife have access to all his properties and assets? Please don’t insult me na question I ask.”
It should be recalled that Diogo Jota and his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, officially tied the knot on June 22, 2025, in a beautiful ceremony held in Portugal. Their wedding took place just 11 days before the tragic accident that claimed his life.
The couple had shared a long and loving relationship, having been together for about 12 years after meeting in high school in Porto, Portugal. Their bond was admired by fans and friends who followed their journey both on and off the football field.
The lady’s question has since generated a heated discussion online, with many expressing disappointment over what they described as an inappropriate and ill-timed curiosity, while a few others defended her right to ask questions about legal matters related to inheritance and marriage laws.
