A Nigerian lady has been declared wanted online after she was accused of vandalizing an Airbnb apartment in Lekki following a disagreement over the air conditioner in the property.
[/p]The incident came to light after an X (formerly Twitter) user, @Joiceoflagos, shared details of the event on her page. According to her, the unidentified lady had rented the Airbnb for a short stay but soon complained that the AC in the apartment was not cooling properly.
In response, the apartment management immediately sent an electrician to assess the situation. The technician inspected the AC unit and confirmed that it was working perfectly. He explained that the intense heat in the environment at the time could have contributed to the perception that the AC wasn’t cooling effectively.
Despite the findings, the lady insisted that she wasn’t comfortable and demanded a different apartment. The Airbnb team reportedly informed her that there was no alternative apartment available at the time as the one intended for reassignment had already been booked.
She agreed to remain in the apartment for the night, claiming she had a photoshoot scheduled. However, when she left the next morning, the apartment staff went in to inspect the property and were shocked at what they discovered.
According to @Joiceoflagos, the lady had severely damaged the property before leaving. She allegedly wrote on the chairs, tore apart the bed frames, and vandalized the decorative art on the walls, causing significant damage to the interior of the Airbnb.
In her social media post, @Joiceoflagos wrote:
“Hi everyone. Please I need help in finding this girl. The girl rented an Airbnb in Lekki. While she was there, she called them to tell them that there’s a fault with the AC, that it wasn’t cooling properly. When the electrician got there and checked, he saw that there was nothing wrong with the AC, that it was because of the heat in the environment which was why the AC wasn’t cooling.”
“So they met her and told her since the AC isn’t cooling because of the heat, they could change her to a different apartment. She refused, saying she couldn’t move because she had a shoot. Throughout the afternoon, she said nothing. Then in the evening, she called again to say she couldn’t stay because the AC still wasn’t cooling. But they informed her again that there was no other apartment available.”
“She stayed through the night and left the following morning. They went in for inspection and discovered she had written on their chairs, destroyed the bed frame, and vandalized their artwork. This is unacceptable.”
The situation has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many users calling for the lady to be held accountable for the damages.
