A young Nigerian woman has taken to social media to voice her concerns over what she perceives as a significant decline in generosity, kindness, and chivalrous behavior among Nigerian men in today’s society.

In a now-viral video circulating widely online, the unidentified lady passionately expressed her disappointment, stating that men no longer show the same level of care or financial support to women as they did in the past, especially toward those who appear to be struggling.

“Things don spoil! Our men don spoil! How are our ladies surviving?” she exclaimed, reflecting on what she described as a better time during the era of popular social platforms like 2go. According to her, back then, it was common for men to display unsolicited acts of kindness. For instance, she recounted a time when a man would walk into a restaurant, see a woman ordering food, and generously offer to pay for her meal without hesitation.

“Back in the 2go days, when you go to a restaurant to buy food, a man would meet you and pay for everything. Instead, they now wait for you outside,” she added, expressing her dismay at how times have changed. She described today’s men as lacking the kind of empathy and consideration that were once prevalent.

She also shared how, in the past, men would often stop to offer rides to women they saw walking on the road, an act she claimed no longer occurs. “Back then, they will see a woman trekking and they will park to ask, ‘are you going my way?’ This does not happen again,” she stated.

Her candid reflections have stirred up a wave of reactions on social media, with many users either supporting her sentiments or challenging them. While some agree that times have changed and traditional displays of male generosity are declining, others argue that such expectations are outdated and unfair in today’s context of equality and shared responsibility.
