A lady has publicly accused Afro Nation of “stealing” from her after her $1,105 Golden Ticket for the Portugal edition of the music festival was canceled without a refund. Her emotional story has since sparked outrage and concern among music fans and festival-goers online.
According to her detailed account, she had purchased the high-priced Golden Ticket to attend Afro Nation Portugal, scheduled to run from July 9th to 11th. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen personal reasons, she realized she would not be able to make the trip and decided to seek a refund for her ticket.
She explained that she initially reached out to the organizers via email to request her money back. However, she was told that she would only be eligible for a refund if she had purchased additional ticket protection at the time of booking, which she had not done. The organizers advised her that the only alternative was to transfer the ticket to someone else as a way to recover her money.
She agreed to this option and started the transfer process as instructed but reported that she did not receive any further communication or update from Afro Nation regarding the transfer status. Growing increasingly worried about losing her money, she decided to involve her bank, American Express (Amex), hoping they could help her resolve the issue.
“Which they did,” she wrote in her post, explaining that Amex initially took action on her behalf and provided her with a temporary refund while they tried to contact Afro Nation. However, the organizers reportedly failed to respond promptly to the bank’s inquiry, leaving the matter unresolved for weeks.
Weeks later, to her dismay, the charge was reinstated on her account. She described how she immediately called her bank to find out what had happened. She was then informed that Afro Nation had finally replied to the dispute and confirmed the charge as valid, effectively reversing the earlier temporary refund.
Left with no other option and determined not to lose her substantial investment, she began making arrangements to attend the festival in Portugal despite her initial personal constraints. However, she discovered that last-minute flight prices were outrageously high and beyond her budget, leaving her unable to proceed with her plan to travel.
She then considered the possibility of reselling or gifting the ticket to someone else as a final resort. But upon checking the ticket link, she shockingly found out that her Golden Ticket had already been canceled. “When I clicked on the link, it showed that the ticket has been canceled, and I believe they canceled it when I got the refund from my bank and I didn’t know,” she explained in frustration.
Devastated by the discovery, she questioned the organizers’ ethics, asking: “How do you cancel a ticket I paid for and don’t wanna refund me?” She went on to lament that even if she now wished to attend the festival, she couldn’t because her ticket no longer existed.
She described the situation as “pure theft” and “clear stealing,” expressing deep disappointment in Afro Nation for what she called an unfair and exploitative decision. She further pleaded with the organizers to refund her money, stating: “All I want is a refund since the ticket has been canceled and cannot be reinstated. $1,100 is a lot of money for me to let go! @afronation please do the right thing and refund me my money!”
According to her, she has provided all necessary evidence to back her claims, including proof of the ticket cancellation and emails from Afro Nation confirming that they had canceled the ticket but still refused to issue a refund. “Guys here is a proof that they canceled my ticket. And here is an email of them admitting to canceling my ticket but won’t refund me….. arghh… I’m so upset. @afronation please refund me my money!!!!” she wrote, sharing screenshots and documentation as part of her online plea.
Her emotional post has quickly gone viral, prompting widespread sympathy and sparking debates on customer rights and festival refund policies. Many users have urged Afro Nation to respond publicly and offer a fair resolution to avoid damaging their reputation further among global fans.
