Operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Board have arrested a 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu, after he was seen in a viral video licking the genitals of a goat. The disturbing incident took place in the Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, where Yakubu resides.
In the video that quickly gained attention online, Yakubu is seen instructing another individual to record him while engaging in the inappropriate act. His bizarre actions, which he later admitted were done with the intention of going viral and gaining fame, sparked outrage among viewers.
During his arrest and preliminary interrogation in Kano, Yakubu denied actually licking the goat's genitalia, despite the footage clearly showing otherwise. "I swear to Allah, I did not lick the goat. I only placed my mouth near the area," he claimed, adding that this was the first time he had engaged in such an act.
Yakubu further stated that he was not under the influence of any drugs or intoxicating substances at the time, though the Hisbah authorities have ordered a psychiatric and drug evaluation to assess his mental and physical state more thoroughly.
Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar, the Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, condemned the act, calling it tragic and disgraceful. "It is tragic that a Muslim man would subject himself to such a disgraceful act, ignoring all religious and ethical values. This individual clearly lacks any proper understanding of Islam. His pursuit of cheap social media fame has led him into disgrace," he said in response to the incident.
