Iran has reportedly launched a fresh missile strike targeting Israel, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and sparking renewed chaos, despite earlier announcements of a ceasefire agreement between the two nations.
According to local reports, the missile struck the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, where rescue operations confirmed multiple casualties. Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), verified that four civilians were killed at the impact site.
Several other individuals sustained injuries during the attack, with at least two victims reported in moderate condition. Medical teams also treated over 20 others for minor injuries and anxiety-induced trauma as panic gripped the area.
The strike has raised alarm bells, particularly given that just hours prior, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had publicly declared that Iran’s retaliatory military actions against Israel had officially ceased as of 4 a.m. local time.
However, at approximately 5:55 a.m., air raid sirens blared across various Israeli cities, signaling incoming threats. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) quickly confirmed that missiles had been launched from Iranian territory, suggesting the ceasefire declaration may have been premature or miscommunicated.
This latest development directly contradicts the optimistic tone of U.S. President Donald Trump’s earlier statement, where he declared that both Iran and Israel had reached a ceasefire agreement set to fully take effect within 24 hours.
Trump, in a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social, emphasized that the two nations had agreed to a phased ceasefire, allowing each side time to conclude their current military operations. The President hailed the deal as a “historic breakthrough” that would bring an end to the 12-day war.
Despite this announcement, tensions remain high, with both sides continuing to issue veiled threats. Iran reiterated that it would only continue its offensive if provoked again, while Israel responded by stating that further Iranian aggression would be met with swift retaliation.
As the world watches closely, questions remain over whether the ceasefire agreement will hold or if the region is on the brink of even more devastating conflict.
