An InDrive driver, who was accused of fleeing with a vendor’s phone, has been apprehended in Ikeja while attempting to collect another order. The driver, who had previously disappeared after failing to deliver a customer's phone, was caught in the act of trying to pick up another delivery order.
The news broke on X, formerly known as Twitter, where a post revealed that the driver was found lying on the ground after being caught. This update was accompanied by images from the scene, showing the moment the driver was apprehended.
Prior to his capture, reports had circulated about the driver’s disappearance after failing to complete a delivery. A post shared a few days before his arrest read, “I can’t believe an InDrive rider ran away with a phone and InDrive is doing nothing about it.” The vendor accused the company of ignoring the situation, adding, “They’ve completely ignored the vendor. Anyway, that’s the face of the thief and his phone number. If you ever book a courier and he shows up, just know he’s a thief.”
Four days later, the same driver was spotted attempting to collect another order in Ikeja. The post about his capture was updated to reflect the incident, reading: “Stupid thief was caught today. He went to Ikeja again to collect orders. A stupid, dirty thief.”
The story has since sparked widespread online reactions, with users expressing their opinions in the comments section. Many of them criticized both the driver’s actions and the company’s lack of response to the situation.
See some reactions below:
@badjesusgirl: “Anywhere I see that they are dragging inDrive, I should tag Aproko Dr. because the amount of shock I experienced seeing him become a brand ambassador for them is unbelievable. A useless app through and through.”
@Flowfy02: “Any one that wants to catch him can with his number go get a police report. By virtue of his BVN on the network he uses, they would find his house address.”
@Breakthroughuc4: “Most of inDrive drivers are known for such acts. What is in the phone that a man will disgrace himself this way? I pity his tomorrow sincerely.”
@TheOluDavids: “Those companies never do anything to help. They’re all useless when it comes to things like this.”
@OluwatosynBanks: “This same guy took an iPhone 12 Pro for delivery yesterday from our office at Oremeji, and his phone number has switched off.”
