A privately owned helicopter crash-landed near a popular waterfront restaurant in St. Clair County, Michigan, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, sparking alarm among patrons and nearby residents.
According to eyewitness reports and local sources, the aircraft encountered difficulties while attempting to land on a vacant lot adjacent to Cabana Blue, a well-known restaurant situated along Anchor Bay in Clay Township. The helicopter ultimately came down just a short distance from the bustling eatery, causing considerable commotion but, fortunately, no casualties.
Authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported during the crash landing, and all individuals on board the aircraft and in the vicinity are safe. Emergency response teams arrived swiftly at the scene, securing the area and beginning preliminary investigations.
An official investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances that led to the unexpected landing. Aviation experts and federal authorities are expected to examine the helicopter’s flight path, mechanical status, and pilot communications as part of their inquiry.
The incident comes just days after the global aviation industry was rocked by a catastrophic tragedy in India, where a commercial airplane crashed on June 12, 2025, resulting in a staggering 241 fatalities.
That harrowing crash had only one sole survivor, who, after being hospitalized for injuries, has now been discharged and is reportedly recovering well.
