A former officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Oluwaseyi, has shared a heartfelt and emotional account of the choices and missteps that led to his downfall from financial success to living modestly as a security officer.
In a street interview with the well-known content creator Yomilistens, Oluwaseyi opened up about the painful transformation in his life, describing how nearly two decades ago, he was making as much as ₦30,000 every day from his official and unofficial earnings. According to him, he was able to save ₦20,000 out of that amount daily, accumulating a monthly income of around ₦460,000.

With such earnings, he invested wisely—or so he thought—by purchasing two commercial buses and a private car, which he handed over to trusted friends to manage for income generation. Unfortunately, his friends mismanaged the transport business, leading to financial losses that crippled the entire venture.
He further revealed that his downfall was not just financial mismanagement but also personal misconduct. While serving as a LASTMA officer, he began drinking while on duty at the Bolade-Oshodi axis. Despite multiple warnings, his behavior persisted until it ultimately led to his dismissal from the agency.
When asked about his feelings regarding how his life turned out, Mr. Oluwaseyi did not hold back his regrets. He admitted that he deeply laments his past decisions and now works as a security guard to support himself. He also stated that he uses his story as a lesson for his children, hoping they avoid the same mistakes and follow a better path.
The touching story has since gone viral on social media, resonating with many Nigerians who face similar struggles and are attempting to rebuild their lives after major setbacks.
