The disturbing incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the user identified as @Disculpe__, who detailed how his brother narrowly avoided what could have been a life-threatening situation. According to the post, his brother had booked a ride through the Bolt app for a routine trip. However, during the course of the journey, events took a suspicious and dangerous turn.

The driver, while en route to the destination, reportedly pulled over abruptly and claimed that his vehicle was experiencing overheating issues. As the passenger tried to make sense of the situation, three unknown men suddenly emerged from the shadows and allegedly attempted to rob and possibly inflict harm on his brother.

Describing the ordeal, @Disculpe__ wrote: “Everyone, please be careful using Bolt. This driver tried to set my brother up last night claiming his car was overheating. Three men came out of nowhere to rob and almost kill him. @boltapp @BoltNigeria why do you keep employing thieves?”

The post quickly gained attention and began circulating across social media platforms, igniting widespread concern over the safety of e-hailing services in Nigeria. Many Nigerians expressed outrage, urging Bolt Nigeria to take immediate action by thoroughly investigating the matter and enforcing stricter screening processes for drivers.

Several users also shared their personal safety tips and similar experiences, further amplifying the demand for better passenger protection, real-time monitoring, and accountability from ride-hailing companies.

As of the time of this report, Bolt Nigeria has yet to release an official statement addressing the incident, but the online community continues to call for transparency and justice for the alleged victim.
