The Federal Government has officially announced the postponement of the burial of prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, who sadly passed away on Saturday in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The delay in the burial arrangements has been attributed to incomplete documentation required by Saudi Arabian authorities.

This development was confirmed by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, during an interview with the BBC on Monday. Idris explained that the late industrialist’s body, which was initially expected to arrive in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, could not be transported as planned due to ongoing administrative and regulatory processes between the Saudi government and the deceased’s family.

“There are regulations set by the Saudi government on how to bring a body for burial in the country, so now the paperwork is being filled out between the Saudi government and the family of the deceased,” Minister Idris clarified during the interview, stressing the importance of compliance with international protocols for transporting human remains.

He further stated that efforts were underway to expedite the documentation process and that the body would be transported from the UAE to Saudi Arabia as soon as all the necessary papers are fully completed and approved.

The Minister assured that both the family of the late businessman and the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia have successfully concluded all other funeral and burial arrangements. The final step awaiting completion is the transfer and official reception of Aminu Dantata’s remains in Saudi Arabia for his burial.

Aminu Dantata, widely recognized as one of Nigeria’s most influential businessmen and respected philanthropists, died at the age of 93. He was celebrated for his immense contributions to the Nigerian economy and various charitable initiatives, earning him respect and admiration both locally and internationally.

His passing has been met with widespread mourning across Nigeria, with many leaders, business associates, and citizens paying tribute to his impactful life and legacy. His family and loved ones, along with the Nigerian community, continue to prepare for his final journey, ensuring that his burial is conducted in line with Islamic rites and the necessary legal requirements of Saudi Arabia.
