In response to Nigeria’s worsening economic situation, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has announced plans to lead a special national prayer session focused on economic revival and healing for the nation. This significant prayer event is part of the RCCG’s July 2025 thanksgiving service, which will be held under the theme “Divine Intervention.” The service is scheduled to take place at the RCCG national headquarters in Oyingbo, Lagos, and is expected to attract a massive gathering of worshippers from across the country.
During a press conference in Lagos on Friday, Pastor Adeboye, represented by his Special Assistant on Administration, Pastor Dele Balogun, explained that the prayer session is a faith-inspired response to the deepening socio-economic struggles currently facing Nigerians. He highlighted the alarming levels of inflation, unemployment, and other structural economic challenges that have left many citizens in distress and struggling to meet their daily needs.
“Our nation, Nigeria, as well as other nations of the world, are going through a challenging time. However, the good news is that these challenges are surmountable by faith, if we do not entertain doubt,” Adeboye said, encouraging Nigerians to maintain hope and steadfast faith in God despite the hardships.
Pastor Adeboye called on Nigerians to move away from negative thinking and defeatist attitudes, urging them instead to embrace a mindset rooted in faith and positive confessions. According to him, shifting from a culture of constant complaint to one of gratitude and positivity is crucial for national progress and collective prosperity.
“As citizens and stakeholders in Nigeria, we need to drop the garb of negative confessions and plug into the mystery of faith and positive reasoning, to drive positive action towards moving Nigeria forward,” he emphasized, noting that faith-based action can serve as a catalyst for economic transformation and social renewal.
The respected cleric further expressed unwavering belief in God’s power to bring about economic recovery, strengthen the nation’s institutions, and unlock new opportunities for growth and development. He stressed that with collective prayers and faith, the nation could be repositioned for greater prosperity and stability.
“To this effect, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye, has undertaken to lead prayers for national economic restoration and enlargement. Our nation needs transformation into the realm of divine opportunities,” the official statement added, reinforcing his commitment to seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s economic woes.
