Bayern Munich have paid a heartfelt tribute to 18-year-old Guo Jiaxuan, who tragically lost his life following a devastating accident at the club’s training ground.
According to reports, the young footballer suffered a fatal injury during a football match in Spain in February when he was struck in the head by the knee of an opposing player.
Guo Jiaxuan was a promising talent who played for the Bayern Munich International team and also represented China at the Under-17 level, showcasing immense potential in his football career.
Medical reports revealed that Guo suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a rare and severe type of stroke caused by bleeding on the surface of the brain.
Following the accident, he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Madrid, where doctors discovered that he had sustained irreversible brain damage and had no remaining brain function.
Bayern Munich released an official statement on Thursday, expressing their deep sorrow over the loss of their young player.
“FC Bayern is mourning the passing of Guo Jiaxuan, the former World Squad player who has died at the age of 18 in his native China,” the statement read.
“He succumbed to the effects of a serious head injury following a tragic accident during a training match in Spain on 6 February.
“The club’s thoughts are with his family and friends during this painful time.”
The statement also highlighted Guo’s contributions to the FC Bayern World Squad, a prestigious program that offers talented young footballers from around the world the opportunity to showcase their skills at the highest level.
