After spending over two years away from their iconic home ground, Barcelona have officially announced that they will return to the Spotify Camp Nou on August 10, 2025.

The highly anticipated reopening of the stadium marks a major milestone for the club, which began extensive renovation works in June 2023 as part of their ambitious Espai Barça project.

During this period, the team temporarily relocated to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, where they hosted home games for two full seasons.

Originally, the club aimed to return to the revamped Camp Nou in November 2024. However, unforeseen construction delays and adjustments to the redevelopment timeline pushed the reopening date further.

Now confirmed, the grand return will be marked by the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy, which will serve as the stadium's official curtain-raiser.

This year’s Gamper match will feature Italian Serie A club Como 1907, co-owned by former Barça and Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The choice of opponent has generated excitement among fans, especially given Fabregas’ deep ties to the Blaugrana.

Despite the reopening, the stadium will not operate at full capacity immediately. Due to ongoing works in the upper tiers and surrounding infrastructure, the club announced that the Spotify Camp Nou will run on a reduced capacity for the foreseeable future.

According to officials, full capacity—estimated to be around 105,000—will not be available until at least 2026, when the final phase of the renovation is expected to be completed.

Fans and stakeholders alike have expressed enthusiasm about the return, as the team looks forward to playing once again in front of home supporters at the legendary venue that has witnessed decades of football history.
