The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially declared Okeke Chinedu Christian, a brilliant student from Anambra State, as the overall top scorer in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the announcement made by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting held on Tuesday in Abuja, Okeke achieved an outstanding score of 375 out of a possible 400, securing the highest mark in the entire nation.

Prof. Oloyede further revealed that Okeke Chinedu Christian has chosen the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his first choice institution, where he intends to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Closely following Okeke is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored an impressive 374, just one point shy of the top position. Ayuba also opted for Mechanical Engineering and selected Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) as his preferred university.

In third place is Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who attained a remarkable score of 373. Jimoh has also expressed his desire to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos.

Notably, all three top-performing candidates are male and share a strong passion for Mechanical Engineering, highlighting the increasing popularity of this field among Nigeria’s brightest young minds.

JAMB, through its registrar, commended these exceptional students for their dedication, hard work, and brilliant achievements, urging other candidates to emulate their commitment to academic excellence and integrity.

The board also reassured the public of its continuous efforts to promote fairness, transparency, and meritocracy in the admission process across Nigerian tertiary institutions, emphasizing that outstanding performance such as this will always be recognized and celebrated.
