The corps member, who shared his ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that he had sustained injuries in an accident while returning from his PPA. Due to the severity of his condition, he was unable to report to work as expected.

According to him, he had followed the proper procedure by notifying both his PPA and his Local Government Inspector (LGI) about his health condition. Initially, they seemed to understand his predicament and sympathized with him. However, to his surprise, he was later served a formal query for his absence.

He wrote:

“A few weeks ago, I had an accident while returning from my PPA. I informed both my PPA and my LG office about it, and they initially assured me that all was fine. But to my shock, I received a query one week later when my PPA was visited, and I wasn’t found there. Meanwhile, I was still at home recovering from my injuries.”

He went on to emphasize that he had taken all necessary steps to inform the authorities about his condition but was still penalized. He continued:

“I swear I did everything by the book. My PPA was supportive and understood my situation, maybe because they don’t even pay me. The LG office initially wished me well, but the following week, they hit me with a query.”

Following his post, numerous social media users flooded the comment section with their thoughts and reactions. Some sympathized with him, while others shared similar experiences they had during their service year.

@madee_laine: “Can you imagine?? I’m sorry you had to deal with that. I hope you’re better now?”

@cee_4ourr: “They’ll tell you why not go to the NHIS hospital they gave you.”

@MzTaiwoO: “This cannot happen in Lagos state during my own time oo. All you have to do is write to your PPA and your LG office. If you didn’t do that, they will serve you na.”
