The President of Northern Youths, Ambassador Abdul DanBature, has publicly issued a stern warning to popular activist, Verydarkman, demanding that he tenders an unreserved apology to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, within the next 48 hours.
This development comes after Verydarkman openly criticized the Sultan for his controversial remark where he allegedly described social media as a terrorist organization and suggested that the government should take strict actions against it.
It would be recalled that during a public event, the Sultan of Sokoto had voiced his frustrations over the negative influence of social media on society, stating that it functions like a terrorist organization and urgently needs to be regulated by the authorities. The statement stirred mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many users, including celebrities and public figures, weighing in on the topic.
Reacting to the Sultan’s statement, activist Verydarkman expressed his disapproval through a video, emphasizing that while social media has its flaws, it has equally been a powerful tool for positive change, advocacy, education, and opportunities for millions of Nigerians.
Verydarkman argued that the Sultan’s generalization was unfair and one-sided. He accused the religious leader of being overly ’emotional’ in his remarks and called for a balanced perspective on the matter. According to the activist, isolating the negative aspects of social media while ignoring its countless benefits is irresponsible, especially from a figure of the Sultan’s stature.
In response, the president of Arewa Youths, Ambassador Abdul DanBature, addressed the issue in a video statement where he demanded that Verydarkman retracts his statement against the Sultan and apologizes to the royal institution as well as to Northern Nigerians.
DanBature stressed that they are giving Verydarkman a strict deadline of 48 hours to publicly issue this apology or face undisclosed consequences from the Arewa Youth community, noting that the Sultan remains a highly respected spiritual and traditional figure in Nigeria.

I want to quickly call on the attention of Verydarkman based on the comment he did against our father, our royal leader, the Sultan of Sokoto. We want Verydarkman to quickly withdraw his statement and apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto and to we the Northern Nigerians. We are giving Verydarkman 48 hours for him to do that. Thank you.”
