A man, identified as Gbenga Oluwatomisin, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly sharing the private video of his ex-lover with her husband.
It was revealed on Tuesday that the 44-year-old defendant is facing a two-count charge related to conspiracy and breach of public peace. The charges were brought against him following an incident that allegedly took place on January 7.
According to the prosecuting counsel, Inspector Sikiru Opaleye, the accused conspired with other individuals, who are currently at large, to unlawfully disseminate the private content.
Opaleye further stated that Oluwatomisin engaged in conduct likely to disrupt public order by sending intimate video footage and recorded voice messages of his past relationship with his ex-lover to her legally wedded husband, Kehinde Olayiwola.
Providing further details, the prosecution narrated that Kehinde Olayiwola and his wife, Toyese Olayiwola, had previously gone through a separation due to marital disagreements. During their time apart, Toyese reportedly got involved in a romantic relationship with the defendant, Oluwatomisin.
However, after some time, the estranged couple resolved their differences and decided to reconcile. They resumed their marital relationship and started living together again. This development did not sit well with the defendant, who allegedly attempted to continue the affair with Toyese, despite her refusal.
In response to her rejection, Oluwatomisin allegedly retaliated by sending the explicit video recordings and voice messages of their past encounters to Toyese’s husband, using the mobile number 08129427990.
The prosecution emphasized that this act not only caused emotional distress to the couple but also constituted a serious violation of privacy, leading to the charges filed against the defendant.
The court proceedings are ongoing, with legal authorities set to determine the outcome of the case in the coming days.
