This information was disclosed in a thread on X (formerly Twitter) by user @mumtazin, who condemned the situation as a blatant injustice and an attack on healthcare workers' rights.

He highlighted the dire situation in the healthcare sector, revealing that one doctor in a general hospital is often responsible for more than 150,000 residents, placing an impossible burden on their shoulders.

“What is happening in Kaduna is heartbreaking,” he wrote. “All doctors in the state’s teaching and general hospitals have now embarked on a strike.”

According to him, Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital currently has just nine house officers. Shockingly, six of them are not being paid any salary at all, even though the hospital was approved to employ 96 officers.

He added that many general hospitals are severely understaffed, operating with only three doctors responsible for entire communities. These doctors are still being paid based on a salary structure from over 10 years ago.

“While doctors in neighboring states earn above ₦300,000, Kaduna doctors are being issued threats and sack letters simply for overstaying their training,” @mumtazin reported.

He also revealed that doctors are being denied crucial outside postings needed for their career progression, even though the state is suffering from a lack of medical personnel.

In a disturbing update, he stated that some doctors have already received termination letters for voicing out their plight and are now being compelled to refund 50% of their earned entitlements.

“They sack and ask them to pay back 50% of their entitlements 💔. THIS IS WICKEDNESS OF THE HIGHEST ORDER. Just because they went on strike for their RIGHTS?😭,” he wrote in outrage.

He heavily criticized the management of Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, accusing them of exploiting young doctors: “BDTH Management claims they have overstayed their training without progress. What do you mean by that when they are working day and night without rest, in overcrowded and understaffed hospitals, with no chance to study or attend the necessary postings? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE 💔💯.”

@mumtazin called on Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Minister of Health Muhammad Pate to intervene urgently and address the brewing healthcare crisis: “This is happening now in BDTH with ALL THE DOCTORS and this is not how we should treat the very people caring for our sick.”
