The Ijaw Protection Forum (IPF) has strongly condemned recent remarks made by popular Nigerian comedian Klintoncod, which they described as defamatory and insulting towards renowned cleric Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry.
In a statement released and circulated across multiple media platforms, the president of the IPF, Alfred Ebiowei, expressed the group's deep disappointment and frustration at what they view as continued online mockery and baseless accusations against Prophet Fufeyin.
He stated that the organization, which represents the collective interest of the Ijaw people, would no longer stand by while a respected religious leader is subjected to ridicule and verbal abuse by entertainers or social media users.
“Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin is not just a preacher; he is a beacon of hope, a spiritual father to thousands, and a man of God who has impacted lives across Nigeria and beyond. It is disheartening that someone like Klintoncod would choose to make a joke out of a man who has dedicated his life to service and humanity,” said Ebiowei.
The forum emphasized that repeated public attacks on Prophet Fufeyin were not only disrespectful to him as an individual but also an affront to the entire Ijaw community and its spiritual heritage.
Ebiowei warned that any future defamation directed at Prophet Fufeyin would be met with firm legal resistance. “We are closely watching Mr. Klintoncod’s online conduct. Any further insults, insinuations, or defamatory statements will compel us to use every lawful channel available to protect the integrity of our revered spiritual father,” he added.
“This should serve as a final warning to Klintoncod and others who find pleasure in belittling spiritual leaders. The Ijaw people will no longer fold their arms while our heritage and faith are dragged in the mud by comedians or influencers in the name of content creation,” he warned.
The group also appealed to media houses, bloggers, and social media platforms to act responsibly by verifying the authenticity of claims and regulating the spread of harmful content, especially when directed at religious or traditional figures.
Ebiowei went further to highlight the positive impact of Prophet Fufeyin’s ministry, stating that aside from his spiritual calling, he is widely celebrated for his consistent humanitarian contributions, ranging from scholarships, hospital bill settlements, to disaster relief for victims across various Nigerian communities.
“Those who understand spiritual matters know that they are not for carnal interpretation. Mr. Klintoncod should educate himself better before speaking on issues he lacks knowledge about. Prophet Fufeyin’s influence comes from divine calling, not public opinion,” he emphasized.
The IPF concluded by reaffirming its unwavering support for Prophet Fufeyin and declared that any further assault on his person or ministry would be swiftly challenged through the appropriate legal processes to uphold the values, dignity, and unity of the Ijaw people.
