Unknown assailants armed with firearms and cutlasses have attacked the family house of embattled Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in the early hours of Tuesday, creating a wave of concern and uncertainty regarding the motives behind the violent act.
The alarming news was initially shared by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who revealed the shocking details of the incident via his X handle on Thursday, sparking further inquiries into the attack on the prominent political figure's residence.
According to Makama’s report, intelligence sources disclosed that Yakubu Ovanja, the Chief Security Officer to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, was the first to inform the authorities about the distressing attack, which took place around 1:00 a.m. that morning. At least three armed individuals were reported to have entered the property and began vandalizing the building. The assailants caused significant damage, including shattering several window panes, before swiftly fleeing the scene after carrying out their destruction.
In response to the alarming situation, a team of security operatives from the Okehi Division quickly mobilized to the scene, investigating the aftermath of the attack. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported, and no arrests have been made thus far. The premises have been documented, and preliminary investigations into the assault have already commenced, with authorities working to uncover the details surrounding the attack.
According to police sources, the motive behind the attack remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to determine who was behind the assault and why they targeted the Senator’s family house. The incident has left many questions unanswered, and as of now, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents the Kogi Central Senatorial District, has not made a public statement regarding the attack or the investigation into the matter.
