An Ekiti court has remanded a 20-year-old woman named Joy Ikoja after she allegedly attempted to cut off her boyfriend’s manhood in a disturbing incident. The case has captured the attention of many due to the bizarre nature of the crime. The incident reportedly occurred when the suspect, Joy Ikoja, caused a severe injury to her boyfriend, Ibrahim Usman, by tearing his scrotal sac in an attempt to inflict harm on him. According to the Police Command, the woman reported the wound to the authorities, which led to her being charged for the attack on her boyfriend.
In the court proceedings, the prosecutor, Inspector Adeboye Adesegun, revealed the details of the incident, explaining that the actions of the defendant had the potential to cause a significant breach of peace in the society. The prosecutor stated, “The defendant on the same date, time, and place, did conduct herself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace in the society.” This remark was made as part of the legal proceedings to highlight the seriousness of the crime she is accused of committing.
The charges brought against the 20-year-old suspect are serious, as the attempted attack on her boyfriend falls under several sections of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021. Specifically, the crime is said to violate Sections 186 and 255, as well as Sections 256(a) and 181(d) of the state’s criminal laws. These laws cover a range of offenses related to assault, violence, and the unlawful infliction of harm on another individual.
Despite the defense lawyer’s request for the court to grant the defendant bail, Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola denied her bail application. The decision to remand the suspect was based on the severity of the crime and the potential danger it posed to the public. The court will continue to hear the case as investigations proceed, and further legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the trial. Joy Ikoja’s actions have left many shocked and concerned about the extent of violence in relationships, drawing attention to the importance of addressing such issues in society.
