Notable actor, Yul Edochie, has taken to social media to reflect on his personal experience during the 2017 Anambra governorship election, offering insightful commentary on the nature of political relationships behind the scenes.
In a post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Yul revealed that despite the highly competitive nature of the election, the relationship among the various contestants, including the then-sitting governor, was surprisingly cordial and respectful.
According to him, he observed that whenever they met during campaigns or political events, there was an atmosphere of mutual understanding, friendly banter, and humor. He emphasized that, contrary to the public’s perception of rivalry and hostility, the actual candidates maintained a sense of camaraderie throughout the process.
Yul also pointed out that the real tension and conflict seemed to stem more from the supporters of the candidates than the politicians themselves. He expressed concern over how supporters often engaged in heated arguments, insults, and even violence, unaware that the politicians they were fighting for were treating each other with mutual respect.
In his own words, he wrote:
“When I ran for Governor of Anambra in 2017, I noticed something. All the governorship candidates were all friendly, including the sitting Governor. The few times we all met, there was always mutual respect in the air amidst jokes. Funny, na the supporters dey fight up & down.”
