Controversial Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, is currently under heavy criticism from social media users after he was accused of deliberately snubbing his daughter, Danielle’s, birthday celebration.
Danielle celebrated her birthday on April 10, 2025, and the occasion was joyfully marked by her mother, May Edochie, who took to her Instagram page to celebrate her daughter with heartfelt words and pictures. She also received warm wishes and support from fans and industry colleagues.

However, what caught the attention of many was the complete silence from Yul Edochie, who made no public mention of his daughter’s special day on any of his social media platforms. This act, or lack thereof, fueled speculation and led many to believe that the rift between father and daughter has worsened.
Gistreel recalls that the relationship between Yul and Danielle has been strained in recent times. The tension is believed to be rooted in the ongoing marital drama involving Yul and his estranged wife, May Edochie, following his controversial decision to take a second wife, which drew public outrage and divided the family.
Matters appeared to escalate further when Danielle reportedly removed her father's surname, "Edochie," from her Instagram bio — a move that many interpreted as a bold statement of disapproval and emotional distance from her father.
Gistreel also carried out a recent review of Yul Edochie’s online activity and found no post, story, or mention of his daughter’s birthday, further cementing suspicions that the two are not on good terms. This development has triggered a storm of reactions from Nigerians on social media, who are now divided over who is at fault in the father-daughter standoff.

Benteke Thank God wrote, “When you offended your father, Na you go beg him. If your father offended you, Na you go still beg him. The young lady insulted her father. Yul Edochie deserves an apology from the young lady.”
Zion wrote, “Chai make una leave this man. He’ll sue you one day, then your eyes go clear.”
Maryam added, “What shame? Busy body people. A girl that will not acknowledge his wishes. Rather, she won’t be happy if he did.”
