Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Wizkid, continues to break barriers and set new standards for African music on the global stage. The Afrobeats icon has reached an extraordinary milestone by becoming the first African artist to surpass an estimated 20 billion global audio-on-demand streams, a historic feat that underscores his impact and widespread appeal.
This record-breaking achievement was officially confirmed by leading global music data platform, Chart Masters, which revealed that the cumulative total of Wizkid’s solo projects and collaborations has now exceeded the 20 billion stream mark across major digital platforms worldwide. This places Wizkid in the elite league of the most streamed global music acts of all time.
Among his most-streamed records is his contribution to Drake’s mega-hit “One Dance,” also featuring Kyla, which alone boasts over 3.6 billion streams on Spotify. The song earned a place in the Guinness World Records as the first track to hit 1 billion streams on the platform, further amplifying Wizkid’s global recognition.
In addition to this milestone, Wizkid earlier made history as the first African artist to receive the Brit Billion Award, presented to him after accumulating over one billion streams in the United Kingdom alone.
With more than 65 million units sold across the globe, Wizkid maintains his status as the best-selling Afrobeats artist of all time. His consistent success continues to serve as an inspiration to upcoming African artists, proving that the continent's sound has a lasting and dominant place on the world stage
