Renowned social media influencer and popular content creator, John Merry, better known by her online moniker Beauty Goddess, has finally opened up about the reason behind her noticeable absence from the star-studded wedding ceremony of Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
Recall that over the weekend, the highly anticipated wedding ceremony between Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux took place in grand style in Lagos. The lavish event was graced by prominent dignitaries, top celebrities in the entertainment scene, socialites, and alumni of the Big Brother Naija reality show, who came together to celebrate the young couple.

Amid the excitement and glamour, fans and followers on social media were quick to notice the absence of one of Nigeria’s most followed influencers, Beauty Goddess, from the high-profile guest list. Her absence did not go unnoticed, as netizens began raising questions and speculating reasons for her nonattendance, with some fans expressing disappointment and trolling her online.
Responding to the wave of backlash and online drama, Beauty Goddess took to her platform to clarify the situation and set the record straight regarding why she wasn’t present at Priscilla Ojo’s wedding celebration.
In a candid revelation, she explained that she had already made prior travel plans before being made aware of the wedding date. According to her, the flight she booked was both expensive and non-refundable, which made it impossible for her to reschedule or cancel just to attend the event.
“I just couldn’t cancel my expensive flight because of Priscilla’s wedding. My vacation was already booked,” she stated in her online response.
She further disclosed that she had personally reached out to Priscilla Ojo to explain the situation and make peace, despite the assumptions circulating online. Addressing the trolls, Beauty Goddess questioned the validity of claims that she and Priscilla Ojo were close friends, challenging them to prove it by presenting any substantial evidence of their supposed friendship.
“You guys are doing the most. Can you guys just chill? I’m so happy for her. You can’t find three videos of us hanging out. No you can’t, how are we friends?” she added, implying that while she wished the bride well, they were never personally close enough for her absence to be such a topic of public conversation.
The situation escalated further when a viral video clip of Beauty Goddess addressing the issue surfaced online, capturing her frustration with the assumptions being made about her relationship with Priscilla and the reasons behind her absence.
