Popular activist, Verydarkman has finally broken his silence after being given a 7-day ultimatum to tender an apology for criticizing Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s visit to the Vatican for the funeral of the late Pope.
It was earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a strongly worded letter, demanding an apology from Verydarkman for labeling Akpabio’s trip shameful, especially at a time when several Nigerians are suffering and dying due to insecurity in the country.
Responding to the letter, Verydarkman posted a video on his social media pages where he first offered a heartfelt apology—not to Akpabio or the APC, but to the innocent victims of herdsmen attacks in various parts of Nigeria.
He expressed deep sympathy for residents of Benue, Jos, Kwara, Enugu, Ogun, and Edo States who have been affected by violence and insecurity, pointing out that the leaders who should be apologizing to them have instead chosen to prioritize political events abroad.
According to him, it is a shame that Nigerian leaders would leave their citizens to suffer insecurity and deaths, yet travel for funerals of foreign figures who were unaware of their existence while alive. He criticized the government for issuing a 7-day ultimatum to him while ignoring the plight of the people back home.
Verydarkman further turned the tables by issuing his own 7-day ultimatum to the government, demanding immediate action to curb herdsmen attacks and improve security across the most affected states.
He said in part …
“First of all, I want to apologize to the people of Benue, to the people of Jos, Kwara, Enugu, Ogun, and Edo state. To the people who have been victims of insurgency and insecurity in Nigeria as a result of these irresponsible leaders that we have. Leaders with misplaced priorities that leave their own people that is dying in their farmlands and traveling to go for funeral of those that don’t even know them when they were alive, all because of their political movement. Since the irresponsible leaders will not apologize, I will apologize on their behalf. People dey kpai, them dey kill hundreds of your own, una no wake up one morning una go there. President sef no get mouth give statement, una get mind dey give me 7 days. I want to give you people 7 days to clamp down the herdsmen attack that is going on in Benue, Jos and Enugu….”
His bold response has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians praising him for standing up to the government, while others debate the implications of his comments on the ongoing political climate.
