Popular Nigerian activist Verydarkman has publicly condemned trolls who have mocked his mother’s profession as a teacher, following recent events involving salary deductions by her bank.
The outspoken critic had previously accompanied his mother to the bank after suspecting suspicious deductions from her teacher’s salary. This act led to mixed reactions from netizens, with some mocking him for giving to strangers while his mother allegedly remained financially unsupported.
Reacting strongly to the online ridicule, Verydarkman pointed out the poor perception of teachers in Nigeria due to the government’s consistent failure in treating the profession with the dignity and compensation it deserves.
He emphasized that teaching is a noble calling and should be ranked among the highest-paid professions in the country, but unfortunately, it is not. He attributed this societal disregard to governmental neglect and systemic failure.

“I see a lot of posts of people mocking me say I dey do give away say my mother na ordinary school teacher, say I for don open business for her. The truth is that I don’t blame you people. Na the yeye Nigerian government na him cause am, cause normally because the welfare of teachers suppose dey above the roofs….”
