A fresh wave of controversy has surfaced following allegations by popular yet controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, claiming that outspoken social critic, Verydarkman, is plotting to escape Nigeria shortly after regaining his freedom from EFCC custody.
It should be recalled that Verydarkman was released from detention on May 6, 2025, following his earlier arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 2, 2025. His arrest had triggered a wave of national protests and public outcry, demanding his immediate release, which eventually took place after four days.
The debate over his release has taken a new turn as Uche Maduagwu openly accuses him of plotting a covert escape from Nigeria. Maduagwu alleges that Verydarkman is planning to travel to Ghana under the radar and eventually relocate to another country entirely.
According to Maduagwu, there are reports that friends of Verydarkman are allegedly attempting to smuggle him out of the country. He further urged Nigerian immigration authorities and EFCC to step in and prevent any attempt to leave the country illegally.
“His friends are trying to sneak him out of Nigeria to Ghana. From Ghana, he would run to another country. I’m calling on immigration and EFCC, please don’t let him run,” he said in a now-viral video.
The situation continues to stir reactions online as many netizens question the credibility of the accusations, while others are demanding transparency regarding Verydarkman’s legal status and travel intentions.
