Tunde Onakoya Receives Nord A9 SUV

Renowned Nigerian chess champion and humanitarian, Tunde Onakoya, best known for his initiative ‘Chess in Slums Africa’, has received a brand new Nord A9 SUV from Oluwatobi Ajayi, the visionary CEO of Nigerian automobile brand, Nord Motion.

The generous gift was presented to Onakoya following a lighthearted yet meaningful chess game played with the Nord Motion boss, symbolizing their shared appreciation for excellence, discipline, and innovation.

On Thursday, Onakoya took to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle to share images of the luxury SUV, proudly calling it the most beautiful car he has ever owned. His post was filled with emotion and gratitude as he celebrated the thoughtful gesture.

He extended heartfelt thanks to the entire Nord Motion team and particularly to Oluwatobi Ajayi, whom he described as a leader with extraordinary vision. He acknowledged the gift as a symbol of support, encouragement, and belief in his mission.

Onakoya further revealed that the car was won through a light-hearted chess challenge posed by the CEO. He noted that although playful, the challenge carried high stakes for him — and he couldn’t afford to lose.

In addition to the car gift, Onakoya also shared exciting news about the renewal of his ambassadorial role with Nord Motion. The partnership, which had already seen a fruitful year, has been extended for another term, deepening the collaboration between the chess icon and the innovative automobile brand.

Speaking highly of Oluwatobi Ajayi, Onakoya likened him to the “Elon” of Africa, applauding his efforts to revolutionize Nigeria’s auto industry with homegrown vehicles that rival international standards.

“Up Naija. A beauty to behold and proudly made in Nigeria,” he wrote, showcasing pride not only in the vehicle but also in what it represents for the Nigerian automotive landscape.
