Fashion designer, Toyin Lawani, [/b]has strongly called out aesthetic doctor, Dr Bea, for criticising Nollywood actress Angela Okorie’s Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery while she herself has undergone multiple facial injections. The controversy started after Dr Bea, a well-known dermatologist, mocked Angela Okorie for her cosmetic surgery after the actress posted a video of herself on a movie set.
In the video, Angela Okorie was seen enjoying herself at work, which sparked a reaction from Dr Bea. The doctor used Okorie’s decision to undergo a BBL as an example to caution people against excessive cosmetic enhancements. She emphasized that Nollywood actresses should focus on improving their acting skills and craft rather than enhancing their physical appearances for sex appeal.
This public criticism did not sit well with Toyin Lawani, who quickly took to social media to respond. She expressed her displeasure with Dr Bea, accusing her of hypocrisy. Lawani pointed out that while the doctor was advising people against body enhancements, she had altered her own face with facial injections. According to Toyin, this made Dr Bea's comments about Okorie’s surgery seem ironic and hypocritical. Toyin emphasized that people should mind their business and allow others to make decisions that make them happy without being body-shamed.
In her lengthy post, Toyin Lawani wrote: "I rarely put my mouth in Sm drama but you say Less is more but you are literally carrying another person’s face on your face all over Nigeria, Advising people to patronize you. How are you better than her? It’s high time people mind their business and let people do what makes them happy without body shaming them. If she loves her body, how is it anyone’s business? It’s always the pot calling the kettle black, someone who’s literally out there destroying people’s noses up and down, leaving a whole veranda balcony under their bent nose. The audacity social media gives people is too much. You can’t even talk without using your nose, my dear. Why can’t you face your business without condemning others? You can’t go around selling fakeness and then calling people out for overdoing it."
She continued, "First come with your real face, then give advice, then maybe anyone can listen to you, Joker 👸. Women supporting women, my ass. Have always said it. I’ve never done BBL before and if I wish to do it, I will do it with my full chest because I’m doing it for me, not for anyone. So let anyone do what makes them happy. They did it for themselves, not you."
Toyin further criticized Dr Bea for promoting her business while putting down others, calling it "wrong" and "hypocrisy." She questioned how Dr Bea could give advice on cosmetic surgery when she had undergone similar enhancements herself. She also added that if Dr Bea wanted to advise Angela Okorie, she should have done so privately rather than publicly criticizing her.
