Nollywood star, Toyin Abraham, has taken a moment to reflect deeply on her relationship journey, opening up about the challenges of her first marriage and how she ultimately found lasting love with her current husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi.
In a heartfelt interview with popular media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Toyin recounted the circumstances that led to the end of her previous marriage to fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson. According to her, one of the major red flags was the opposition from her family, who had spiritual convictions and strong instincts against the union.
“My family actually prayed and got signs that it wouldn’t work,” Toyin disclosed during the interview. “But I didn’t listen. I went ahead.” The marriage, she noted, lasted only about two years before it ended, marking a difficult and reflective period in her life.
However, Toyin's story took a beautiful turn when she began working closely with Kolawole Ajeyemi. According to her, their friendship developed slowly and steadily as they found themselves supporting one another through different personal and professional experiences, mostly during film productions.
She fondly described her husband as calm, deeply spiritual, and very supportive. “In real life, he is very calm. He is a prayer warrior. Whenever I go to Abeokuta, he is always there,” she said with admiration and gratitude.
Initially, Toyin was hesitant to let anyone know about the growing affection between them. “I didn’t want anyone to know at first,” she shared. “But I started getting fond of him. I’d tag along when he was going to work. Then we introduced ourselves to our families, I got pregnant, and marriage followed.”
Her decision to marry Kolawole, she said, was confirmed by divine guidance. “I come from a Christian home, so my family prayed and God confirmed he was the one. Trust me, I married one of the best. I won’t say the best because there are other marriages I admire, like my godmother’s, but my husband is definitely one of the best.”
Now happily married, Toyin Abraham speaks of her union with Kolawole Ajeyemi with warmth, gratitude, and certainty. She sees their marriage as one grounded in mutual respect, love, faith, and alignment of values — a far cry from her previous experience and a journey she hopes will inspire others to listen, wait, and follow divine guidance when it comes to love.
