The son of veteran Nollywood actor Adebayo Salami, Tope Adebayo, has broken his silence regarding the nature of his relationship with popular actress Fathia Balogun, following widespread speculations and rumors circulating within the entertainment industry.
In a candid interview granted to BABAIBE TV, Tope addressed the allegations made by an unnamed fellow actor who claimed that he and Fathia Balogun were romantically involved. The filmmaker expressed disappointment and emotional distress over the unfounded rumors, stating that such accusations were not only false but also hurtful.
According to Tope Adebayo, his connection with Fathia Balogun is purely based on mutual admiration, professional respect, and long-standing friendship. He emphasized that there is no romantic relationship between them, describing their bond as platonic and deeply supportive. He clarified that their closeness stems from shared experiences and the professional mentorship Fathia has extended to him throughout his career.
“I’m very sad at the moment because there has been a false rumour spread about me and Fathia,” Tope lamented. “I don’t know what to do because an actor has accused me of dating and having sex with Fathia.”
He went further to express his deep appreciation for Fathia’s role in his journey as a director in the movie industry. Tope recalled how, during the early stages of his directing career, many actors doubted his capabilities and discouraged him from pursuing that path. However, Fathia stood by him, offered him encouragement, and gave him opportunities that significantly shaped his career.
“I and Fathia are very close to each other to the extent that nobody can find out why we love each other. I and Fathia will be together forever because she is my helper. When I wanted to become a movie director, some actors tried to discourage me, but Fathia was the one who stood by me, and she gave me the opportunity to direct five of her movies at the time without having any past experience about directing movies before,” he added.
Tope Adebayo’s statement comes as a firm response to those spreading baseless rumors, as he seeks to clear the air and preserve the dignity of both himself and Fathia Balogun.
