In her latest episode, Toke Makinwa candidly expressed that, at this point in her life, she would be open to the idea of becoming a second, third, fourth, or even fifth wife if the opportunity presented itself. Her admission has since triggered a wave of reactions on social media, as fans and followers debated whether her comment was a humorous quip, a reflection of societal realities, or a genuine personal choice.

At this point in my life, if I have the opportunity to marry again, as a second, third, fourth or fifth wife, I will take it,” she stated boldly on the show, while discussing the pressures modern women face in marriage and relationships.

Toke went on to emphasize the importance of prioritizing mental health and happiness over societal expectations, especially in matters of the heart. She highlighted how many women endure unhealthy marriages for the sake of appearances, urging others to embrace choices that best serve their emotional and mental well-being.

Her statement has since ignited a wide range of reactions online. While some interpreted it as a tongue-in-cheek remark reflecting her carefree attitude toward traditional marital structures, others viewed it as a bold acknowledgment of polygamy’s existence in Nigerian society, and a woman's right to choose her path regardless of social norms.

It’s worth recalling that Toke Makinwa was previously married to fitness expert Maje Ayida. The two tied the knot on January 15, 2014, in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family members. However, their union ended in controversy and was officially dissolved in 2017 by a Lagos High Court following Ayida’s admitted infidelity.

Since then, Toke has been an outspoken advocate for women’s empowerment, independence, and living life unapologetically. Through her books, podcasts, and public engagements, she continues to challenge societal expectations and encourages women to find happiness on their own terms.
