The family of Juju legend Sunday Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade, has firmly denied circulating reports alleging that the music icon has been kidnapped.
Earlier today, Gistreel reported that the daughter of King Sunny Ade declared him missing, sparking concern among fans and the public.
Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, daughter of the 78-year-old musical icon, raised an alarm on social media, accusing his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye, of restricting access to her father. She claimed the veteran musician had been moved between hotels and kept away from family members for weeks, making it difficult for loved ones to reach him.
However, in a statement issued on behalf of the family, Dayo Adegeye, who also serves as King Sunny Ade’s manager, dismissed the claims as entirely false and described them as a “malicious” effort aimed at damaging the reputation and legacy of the respected musician.
“We want to reassure everyone that King Sunny Ade is safe, healthy, and in good spirits. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that he has been kidnapped,” the statement reads. “We are taking the necessary steps to address this situation and identify those responsible for spreading such harmful misinformation.”
The manager further emphasized that the Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are united in their efforts to protect the musician’s well-being and uphold his legacy. Fans and well-wishers have been asked to remain calm and disregard any unfounded claims circulating on social media.
“King Sunny Ade remains focused on his music and legacy,” Dayo added, “and the public can rest assured that he is surrounded by love, care, and attention from those who genuinely wish him well.”
